My role
As the only engineering intern, I took on several responsibilities that were crucial to the development process of West Coast Catheter's proprietary catheter technology. Over the course of twelve weeks I:
-
Designed and 3D printed custom testing jigs to replicate conditions inside blood vessels.
-
Created the company's entire collection of SolidWorks drawings to be sent to manufacturers.
-
Learned how to use a wide array of medical devices and testing machines.
-
Collected valuable testing data.
-
Got hands on experience working in a startup setting.
I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity
to intern at West Coast Catheter. All that I learned over the three months I worked there alongside the brilliant individuals pioneering the next generation of catheter technology has significantly furthered my development as an engineer.

Large Projects:
Interior Lighting Design

Interior lighting has always been an interest of mine. I enjoy it because it allows for endless creativity in design and choice of lighting fixtures, which can completely transform the atmosphere of any room. Designing Interior Lighting fixtures will be an ongoing project that challenges my creativity and 3D modeling skills.

CubeLamp 1: For my first lamp, I went with a minimalist, geometric design that allowed me to focus on learning how to house the necessary electronic components. The end result is a sleek, simple lamp that works perfectly on my nightstand.
Pyramid Stage(2023)

For this project, I was tasked with designing and building a custom stage to serve as the centerpiece for a large party being thrown by my fraternity. I was given a general idea of what the stage should look like as well as a budget, and the rest was up to me.
I first designed a model of the stage in Onshape, then calculated the amount of materials required for construction and made any adjustments to conform to the budget. I then formed a plan for construction and got to work.
Overall, this project tested my design skills, modeling skills, budgeting, and time management. The end result was an eye catching stage that far exceeded my fraternities expectations.

Air Motor (2022)

This guided project with the UCSB Machine shop taught me how to operate a variety of machines including CNC Mills, Lathes, Drill Presses, Hack Saws and Drill Taps. We used the machines to fabricate the various parts of the project.

The end result was a fully functioning air motor capable of reaching 2500 RPM when connected to compressed air.

Light Switch (2021)

My light switch project was my first engineering project that significantly improved my quality of life. The project uses a lever mechanism which allows me to turn on and off my overhead lights without leaving my bed, which was once quite a burden for me.
Although it is rather simple in nature, I designed and built this project in high school with no formal engineering knowledge and only my own intuition. Seeing the improvement this project brought my daily life opened my eyes to the potential of engineering.

Small Projects:

I am always looking to improve my quality of life by designing and 3D printing smaller projects that help me in some way. In this video, I go through all of these projects I have designed throughout the 2023-2024 academic year.
